Father's Day in Parnell: gifts for men who do not want a fuss
Share
Father's Day in New Zealand falls on Sunday 6 September 2026. If you are buying for a man who says he does not want a fuss, two things work better than most: a small product he would use but would never buy for himself, or an appointment already booked so he does not have to make the call.
Here is the short version with real prices. From the shelf, the Pure Fiji MAN Mini Spa Box is $22, a Pure Fiji Luxury Soap 100g is $15, the MAN Hair Face & Body Wash 280ml is $42 and the MAN Hydrating Body Lotion 280ml is $49. In the salon at 245 Parnell Road, a nose wax is $15, a fingers tidy up is $20 and takes 10 minutes, a toe nails tidy up is $20, and a standard pedicure is $65 for 30 minutes. We are open seven days, including Father's Day itself.
When is Father's Day in New Zealand in 2026?
Sunday 6 September 2026. New Zealand marks it on the first Sunday in September, not in June like the United States and the United Kingdom, so if you have seen an overseas date online, ignore it. The Saturday before, 6 September, is usually busier in the salon, so book ahead if you want a set time.
What do you buy a man who says he does not want anything?
Something he will finish. Men who resist presents usually resist objects, not consumables. A wash, a soap or a body oil gets used up and does not sit in a drawer, and nobody has to pretend to like it. The Pure Fiji MAN range is a straightforward place to start. It comes in two scents, Mana'ia and Citrus Lime & Mint, so you can pick by nose rather than by guesswork.
The Pure Fiji MAN range, with prices
- Pure Fiji MAN Mini Spa Box, $22
- Pure Fiji MAN Nourishing Body Oil 90ml, $25
- Pure Fiji MAN Hair Face & Body Wash 280ml, $42
- Pure Fiji MAN Hydrating Body Lotion 280ml, $49
The Mini Spa Box at $22 is the one to reach for if you are not sure yet, or if this is a gift for an uncle, a father in law, a coach or a neighbour. The wash at $42 is the most practical of the four, because it does hair, face and body and replaces three bottles in the shower.
Soaps and gift sets that do not need explaining
If you want something wrapped and simple, these are the straightforward ones:
- Pure Fiji Reniu Coconut Soap 110g, $13
- Pure Fiji Luxury Soap 100g, $15, available in several infusions
- Pure Fiji Essentials Gift Pack, $28
- Pure Fiji Spa Box Sugar Glow gift set, $32
- Pure Fiji Body Mates Gift Set with Toiletry Bag, $70
Two or three soaps together make a decent gift for well under $50. The Body Mates set at $70 comes with a toiletry bag, which makes it the sensible pick for a dad who travels or plays sport and lives out of a bag half the week.
The stronger idea: book him a treatment instead of buying an object
A gift removes that step. If it is already paid for and already booked, or if he is holding a voucher with our phone number on it, the awkward part is done. He turns up, sits down, and it takes twenty or thirty minutes.
Which treatments suit a man who has never been to a salon?
Start small. These are real services with real prices, and most of them are short:
- Nose wax, $15
- Fingers Tidy Up, $20, 10 minutes
- Toe Nails Tidy Up, $20
- Shape and Polish for hands, $30, 20 minutes
- Men's Shoulders wax, $30
- Men's Upper Chest wax, $50
- Standard Pedicure, $65, 30 minutes
- Spa Pedicure, $85, 45 minutes, our most popular pedicure
- Deluxe Pedicure, $99, 1 hour
The nose wax at $15 is the usual first step, and it is quick. It is not the same experience for everyone, so we would rather tell you that plainly than promise it is nothing. A fingers or toe nails tidy up at $20 each is the low-key option for someone who does not want colour, polish or conversation about it afterwards. If you want the gift to feel like an actual sit down, the Standard Pedicure is $65 for 30 minutes, and the Spa Pedicure at $85 for 45 minutes is our most popular one.
If he has been curious about skin and has never asked anyone, our Facial Treatment Consultation is free and takes 10 minutes. No booking a course of anything, no commitment, just a conversation.
Can a few services be combined in one visit?
Yes. A nose wax, a fingers tidy up and a pedicure can all be done in the same appointment, and ask when you book and we will see what fits together. We do not have a set men's package with a fixed price on it, so the best thing to do is tell us what you have in mind, either in the salon or on the phone, and we will put the services together and give you the total before anything is booked.
How do gift vouchers work at Verdo?
Vouchers are arranged in the salon or over the phone on 027 559 0837. There is no separate voucher page to buy from online. Talk to us about who it is for and what you would like it to cover, and we will sort it out for you. That is deliberately flexible, because a voucher for a nose wax and a voucher for a Deluxe Pedicure are two very different presents.
