TR Pro+ Healing Hydrogel: The Science of Beta-Glucan for Post-Procedure Skin Recovery
Share
Whether you have just had a mole removed, a cosmetic treatment, microneedling, or a chemical peel, what you put on your skin in the days that follow can make or break your results. TR Pro+ Healing Hydrogel is a clinically inspired formulation designed to support damaged skin during its most vulnerable phase of recovery. And the science behind it is genuinely impressive.
The Star Ingredient: Beta-Glucan
TR Pro+ is built around Glucoprime beta-glucan, a polysaccharide derived from the cell walls of baker's yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). Beta-glucan is not a new ingredient in wound care. It has been studied extensively for decades, and the evidence is strong.
A comprehensive review published in Molecules found that beta-glucan may help support the skin's natural recovery process by activating macrophages (your immune system's clean-up crew), which has been studied for its role in supporting collagen production, and promoting angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels needed for tissue repair) (Du et al., 2014).
Barley beta-glucan has been shown to speed wound closure in laboratory work, by favouring cell migration rather than proliferation (Fusté et al., 2019).
Put simply: beta-glucan has been studied for its role in supporting the skin's natural repair environment.
Why Hydrogel Format Matters
TR Pro+ is not a cream, ointment, or serum. It is a hydrogel, and that matters. Hydrogel dressings hold moisture at the wound surface, and a moist environment has long been the standard approach in wound care rather than letting a wound dry out (Kamoun et al., 2017).
Research suggests a moist wound environment may help:
- Research suggests moist wound environments may support recovery compared to dry healing
- Support reduced visibility of scarring by supporting orderly collagen deposition
- Help manage discomfort during recovery during recovery
- Prevent scab formation, which can actually slow healing and increase scar risk
The hydrogel in TR Pro+ forms a protective biofilm layer over treated skin, keeping it hydrated while allowing it to breathe. That cooling sensation you feel on application? That is the gel regulating the moisture balance on the wound surface.
How It Works for Scar Management
Scars form when collagen fibres are deposited in a disorganised pattern during wound repair. International recommendations on scar management put occlusion and hydration at the centre of what helps a scar settle (Mustoe et al., 2002).
TR Pro+ is designed for up to 90 days of scar management use. By continuing to apply the hydrogel twice weekly after the initial healing phase, you support the ongoing remodelling process where collagen fibres reorganise into a more natural pattern.
What It Is Ideal For
- Post-procedure skin recovery (always follow your healthcare provider's aftercare instructions) (consult your doctor about aftercare timing)
- After cosmetic treatments like microneedling, chemical peels, and laser therapy
- Minor skin wounds and abrasions
- Long-term scar management for up to 90 days after the wound closes
How to Use TR Pro+ Healing Hydrogel
Day 1: Rinse the treated area gently with water. Apply a generous 2mm layer of the hydrogel (roughly the size of a 20-cent coin for a small area). Let it absorb naturally. You can cover with a loose dressing if you prefer.
Days 2 to 5: Apply the hydrogel each evening and wear it overnight. In the morning, use your regular moisturiser as needed.
After Day 5: Apply twice weekly. Continue this for up to 90 days if you are managing scarring.
A brief mild stinging followed by a cooling sensation and gentle tightening is completely normal when you first apply the gel. This is the beta-glucan getting to work.
Clean Formulation
TR Pro+ keeps things simple and effective:
- Glucoprime Beta-Glucan for immune support and skin repair
- Triethanolamine as a pH balancer to prevent irritation
- Carbomer for water retention and a soothing gel texture
Neutral pH. Paraben-free. Fragrance-free. No unnecessary additives.
Why We Stock TR Pro+ at Verdo
At Verdo Cosmetics, we see clients before and after cosmetic procedures every week. Proper aftercare is half the result. We have added TR Pro+ to our range because the science is solid, the formulation is clean, and the results speak for themselves. It fills a gap that generic wound creams and petroleum-based products simply cannot.
If you are recovering from a procedure, have a minor wound, or want to manage scarring, this is the product to reach for.
